The African Bar Association has issued a statement putting the records straight in respect of the false information which saturated the social media and the mainstream media claiming that African countries sponsored judges who were not qualified to sit at the International Criminal Court (ICC)
The AFBA statement read : “The negative statement by Africans especially the ones made by Nigerians has become a source of worry and the African Bar Association is disturbed, and most especially given the wide circulation given to the statements in the local and international media in relation to the nominations of some notable African Judges for election into the Bench as judges of the International Criminal Court (I.C.C) which will take place in December, 2020. We wish to state categorically that the criteria for nomination and election as judge of the ICC are well contained in the Rome Statute.
