Nigerian federal lawmakers are in a panic mode after being notified of a possible attack by Boko Haram insurgents on the National Assembly complex and other public buildings in Abuja, a report by The Punch stated. The newspaper stated that several members of the House of Representatives confirmed on Wednesday, May 5, that they had been notified of the imminent attack by the terrorist group. One of them, a southwest lawmaker whose name was withheld, said his presence would henceforth be limited on the premises. He said: “That is the security alert I saw today. I’m already moving out of here. I’ll only be around when there is a major reason to do so. Nowhere is safe in the country anymore.” readmore

400 Nigerians Murdered by Boko Haram, Bandits, Herdsmen

No fewer than 400 Nigerians were murdered by Boko Haram, bandits, and herdsmen in the first quarter (Q1) of 2021, the latest report from Bismark Rewame-led Financial Derivatives Company (FDC) has said. Besides, the report stated that bandits also kidnapped about 15o persons during the period under review. Quoting Civic Media Lab as a source, Rewane in a report, gave the details of killings, stating that Boko Haram and other Islamic terrorists murdered 100 people: random shooters/arsonists killed 40 people, herdsmen killed 60, while bandits murdered 200, noting that the recent was the abduction and killing of some Greenfield University students. readmore

Leading Igbo think-tank, Nzuko Umunna, has warned that state actors may face prosecution at domestic and international fora if they fail to stem arbitrary killings in the South East. In an open letter to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen.
